Arnoldsche Verlagsanstalt. New. 2011. paperback. 9783897903586 . Flawless copy, brand new, pristine, never opened -- 176 pages; 100 color illustrations. Description: "Is fashion that is out of order and doesn't seem to follow any obvious rules truly accidental? Or has dissonance in fashion always been a guiding principle? Can coincidence therefore be predictable and controllable? A publication which defies all boundaries of categorisation has been created out of the workings of fashion that almost inevitably has to be out of order, so as to increase its attractive power and generate attention with its interruptions of the ordinary. The contributions, on the border between art and fashion and residing within the realms of literary theory, design theory, cultural history and technology, demonstrate in manifold ways processes, images and ideas that are striving for innovation and transgressing established parameters. The publication is dedicated to the constructive side of the development of fashion, whereby the theme of Out of Order is combined with the concept of dissonance as a creative formula. If one starts from the premise that fashion is no longer fashion when it can be generalised, categorised, repeated and described, then the process of dissonance constitutes the significant impulse for everything new. Is the unraveling of fashion by the disruption of the conventional, known and established merely coincidental? Does it mean that what has resulted has no identifiable causes? Of course not, as every creative process, alongside its lack of rules, follows a qualitatively definable goal. It is this tension between wrong and right, trash and haute couture that creates the fashionable effect and justifies the liberty to deviate from the norm. Whatever is successful is permissible. With contributions from: Pamela Church Gibson, Annette Geiger, Judith Gerdsen, Hanna Heilmann on Vibskov & Emenius, Iris Maria vom Hof in conversation with Oliver Sieber, Verena Kuni, Isabell Lizardi & Matt Johnson, Thomas Oláh, Andrea Sick, Bitten Stetter & Daniel Späi, Terre Thaemlitz, Barbara Vinken, Harry Walter and Gundula Wolter." .

From Seller/Antiquarian, ERIK TONEN BOOKSELLER
. 184 pages, 24 x 28.5 cm, 114 colour illustrations. hardcover with dust jacket. Text in English and German. ISBN 9783897903470. For disciples of Pythagoras and Plato the world?s harmony is reflected in the basic forms of the circle, square and triangle. In his work the silversmith Wilfried Moll from Hamburg hardly thinks about these speculative doctrines, which the Renaissance and later Bauhaus paid so much attention to. But he consciously strove ? without resting on theories ? for ideal form and proportion. Through this his work can stand among the long silversmithing tradition, which began with Wenzel Jamnitzer in the sixteenth century. Moll?s objects are not spectacular ? they are beautiful! When you see them with your own eyes you can sense the very development process ? in which time is slowed down. "For me, there?s no wasted time", says the artist himself. And so works including silver objects, cutlery and also jewellery have developed over the years, which are comprehensively presented for the first time in this publication. Many leading museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York acquired his works as "exemplary examples" for their collections. Since 1965 there has been a kindred sentiment to his life partner, the jewellery artist Gerda Moll. Next to clarity and stringency, lightness became the most important characteristic of her rings, pendants and necklaces. She abandoned decor completely; the modular parts of her jewellery pieces comply with ornamental working series ? thus fulfilling the function of the jewellery. For the first time and in large format illustrations this publication presents the work of the silversmith Wilfried Moll. Juxtaposed with the jewellery objects of Gerda Moll, the timeless beauty of both works is unveiled. The prolific interaction between the enduring artists and life partnership over the last nearly fifty years becomes apparent. To take part in this is a prize in itself ? a "sterling time"! Exhibition at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, 21.10.2011 - 8.1.2012 and afterwards in Solingen
